Material Quality
A53 = A53 is carbon steel pipe which encompasses both seamless and welded carbon steel and dipped galvanized steel pipe. A53 pipe is used for pressure and mechanical applications where steam, water, gas and air are incorporated. It is formable and weldable in all applications. A53 pipe comes in three types (F, E, and S) and two grades (A and B). Contact your salesperson or customer service representative for more information.
A500 = A500 is more of a structural pipe due to its ability to be welded, bent, and formed easier. Primarily used in hand rails, trailers, and posts. Typically A500 is not used in pressure applications.
API 5L = API 5L is a specification supplies by the American Petroleum Institute for seamless and welded steel line pipe. This type of steel pipe is typically used for the transportation of material via pipeline in the form of gas, water, and oil. API 5L is used in the petroleum and natural gas industries.
