Material Quality
3003 = 3003 is good to work with, good to weld, and corrosion resistant making it the most widely used aluminum grade. 3003 Aluminum sheet is ideal for fuel tanks, sheet metal work, and other applications where a stronger strength is needed. It is one of the most common alloys of aluminum for general purpose use.
6061-O = 6061-O has good formability and good to weld, making it the most widely used aluminum grade. 6061 Aluminum Plate is ideal for structural framing, base plates, gussets, motorcycle & automotive parts. It is one of the most common alloys of aluminum for general purpose use.
There are pre-tempered grades: 6061-O (annealed, maximum tensile strength no more than 18,000 psi, and maximum yield strength no more than 8,000 psi), and tempered grades such as 6061-T4 (use of solutions and artificially aged, has an ultimate tensile strength of at least 30,000 psi, and yield strength of at least 16,000 psi.) and 6061-T6 (use of solutions, stress-relieved stretched and artificially aged, ultimate tensile strength of at least 42,000 psi and yield strength of at least 35,000 psi).
5052 = 5052 is commonly known as Anodize Aluminum, due to its high finishing qualities and anodized coatings which are bright and clear. The major alloying element in 5052 is magnesium. When magnesium is used as the major alloying element, or in combination with manganese, the result is a moderate to high strength non-heat treatable aluminum alloy. 5052 is far stronger than the 1100 or 3000 series aluminums. It is very weldable, and 5052 has good resistance to corrosion, especially in salt-water / marine atmospheres. 5052 is widely used for cooking utensils, food processing equipment, storage tanks, truck and trailer components, mail boxes, aircraft components, electronic chassis, boat hulls and ladders.
